Veteran's Day... No Work? Yea Right!

First of all, I would like to say "Thank You" to all of our Veterans who have fought for our country.

Now....

Most people think of Veterans Day as a day off of work... i.e. My Husband. HA! Here is my Husband's Day today.... Does this sound like a day off of work to you?

Wake up to screaming children
Get one child dressed while the other three run around and cry they are hungry and want mommy (whom daddy let sleep in)
Feed children
Take oldest to school while other three watch TV (keep in mind he still hadn't woke me up at this point)
Come home to find sliced cheese all over the house and kids claiming they are hungry (Hungry?? What about all the sliced cheese you just ate.)
Wife wakes up, make her breakfast.
Take out trash
Clean Kitchen
Take kids outside to play
Feed all kids lunch
Take child to school (we have a 3 year old that goes half-day)
Drive 20 minutes with wife to pick up car on base
Go to commissary for a few items
Drive 20 minutes back home
Clean Living Room
Find more sliced cheese under couch - vacuum
Pick up two kids from school
Clean up more messes found upstairs
Feed kids dinner
Give them a Bath
Play upstairs with them
Lay down with them until they all fall asleep.

NOW BEFORE YOU START SAYING "AWWWW POOR GUY, IT WAS HIS DAY OFF" REMEMBER THIS, MOMS DON'T GET WEEKENDS OFF, WE DO THIS 7 DAYS A WEEK AND WE DON'T GET PAID!!!

Just a little food for thought for all those guys out there....... :) Have a great Veteran's Day!

Our Heros

I saw a friend's husband come home from work today for his MOB (Mobility) Bag and I immediately asked "Why?!?!?". He was just coming to get it for an inspection but I was reminded of the one reality we as military spouses hate to face: The possibility of our loved ones being taken away at a moment's notice, with no guarantee that they will ever return. And why are we so wiling to live with this uncertainty? Because we are in love. Because we understand that our husbands (or wives) do a job that takes a special type of person, someone willing to live and die for our country and the rights that we take for granted to frequently. Moments that today make me realize that the next time my husband and I are arguing over the laundry or dishes, it just isn't worth it. We ALL need to treasure every moment we have with our loved one, because we never know when they will be taken away from us. We all need to remember that through good times and bad, we are all blessed to be living with a Hero.

The Worst Part of the Military..... The Bitchy Women!!!

From the outside looking in, being married to a man (or woman) in the military is a glamorous role to have in life. An officer and a Gentleman often comes to mind, along with fancy Balls and heartfelt reunions after deployments. What you realize once you are married to someone in the military however, is that is isn't all it's cracked up to be. The low pay, the long hours, the military's uncanny way to fail to recognize the family as anything important. "Service Before Self (and Family)". Of course, no one bothers to warn you about the worse thing of all; the whiny, gossiping, bitchy military wives. Never in my life have I seen as many women acting like they were 14 again in one place, as I have on a military post. I still recall going to a new post and meeting one of these women within a few days of moving in.

I was at the park with my four very small children at the time, and will admit I was having a difficult time keeping up with all of them. The next thing I knew, I saw a woman yelling at my four year old son. I politely asked her what happened and she spouted back "My baby was climbing up the bottom of the slide and YOUR son slid down and knocked him over!" I wondering why this woman would let a baby climb up the wrong end of a slide to begin with, but figured that fighting with her was not worth with time so I responded with "Would you please let me know next time and I will handle it, he has a speech delay and all he understands is that someone he doesn't know was screaming at him" Which was true, when she yelled at him, he came running towards me and the women I was with screaming and crying in a panic. Well, so much for kindness, this woman was hell-bent to be the center of attention today as she shouted back. "Well maybe if you watched your God Damn kids it wouldn't happen!" Again my thoughts travelled back to how it really was her fault to begin with, and I just laughed. At that point, her husband, looking quite embarrassed got up from his seat and they left. I never saw that woman again, and that suits me just fine. Women like that just deserve to be slapped!
